Summary of an article Khar paints rosy picture of human rights in Pakistan

Main point: Ms Khar and her rosy picture Candidacy for Human Rights Councils election In hope for the GSP preferential trade program Unveiling the countrys national report Ignoring the main critical issues. Taking pride upon unenviable record Giving wrong impression This article revolves around the visit of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to Geneva for Universal Periodic Review (UPR). There she presents a colorful and elaborated picture of the country because of the Human Rights Councils election and in the hope of qualifying for the GSP preferential trade program. The report presented by the Foreign Minister is criticized as an attempt to paint unpleasant fact about the country. For this purpose she herself led the delegation and based her presentation on the efforts government is making, to meet the standards of international community. Although, the efforts of government are not enough but her wordplay show the other way. She mentions the reforms made in constitution and enacted legislation for the protection of human rights in the country. But what she forget to mention are the missing persons, minorities and women rights, sectarianism, misuse of law and situation in the province of Balochistan. She does mention about extremism and terrorism but in a way that the international community got impression as the terrorist has upper hand in the war against terrorism. And also, to blame others rather then taking the responsibility and leaving unclear the stance of the government in this regard. With all those flaws she doesnt forget to take pride in courageous society with democracy who sympathizes with Malala. Regardless of the fact that 40,000 innocent lives have also been lost in this fight with the economic loss of $70 billion.
