Biomass a sustainable Energy Source

What is biomass? Where is biomass mostly used

Biomass is the energy from living things converted into thermal energy. Biomass is used mostly in the U.S.A

HOW DOES IT WORK

How does it work

First parts wood is chopped down from trees and transported into power station Then it is burned boiling water that turns into steam This steam turns a turbine which is connected to a generator which makes electricity. The pollution from the smoke is then absorbed into trees which continue to carry the process

pros

The pollution is recycled. The trees grow so we wont run out unless we chop down all the trees

The dung of animals can also be used.

The hot water is also sent to homes

cons

We make a lot of smoke . Trees are cleared so animals lose their homes.

A lot of co2 is not recycled

Summary

We shouldnt depend on biomass for electricity because it produces a lot of co2
