Pre-Assessment: The student already learned about the names of animals and appropriate sounds for each one, but they still need to review them through reading and writing. General Objective: The student will be able to match the animals and the sounds, and he will also be able to read and write the name of the animals with the correct spellings. Materials: Barnyard Banter by Denise Fleming Blank word cards and pencil for writing Overview: Read the book Barnyard Banter out loud. Write down the names of the animals by listening to the sounds of them. Have the student match their writing with the animal pictures while reading the book out loud. Time: 4 min 3 min 1 min 1 min 10 min 6 min Extensions/Adaptations: Make the student draw the pictures of the animal on the other side of the word cards. Lesson Objective: The student will read a book about animals and write down the name of the animals by listening to the sound.

Instructions: 1. Instruct the student to read the book out loud to the teacher 2. Review the animals and their sounds from the book 3. Hand out the empty word cards and a pencil 4. Explain to the student that he will write down the name of the animal by listening to their sound 5. Make the sound of each animal and give enough time to the student to write down the name of the animal 6. Instruct the student to match their word cards that have animals names that they wrote while reading the book out loud
