TWS 3 Assessment Plan (showcase lesson)

Pre/during/post: The students, 3rd graders will make and understand that triangles can be classified based on their angles (right, obtuse, and acute). The students will be given a preassessment about angles. The students were asked to decide if each triangle was acute, obtuse, or right. This will help me understand what knowledge the students already have about classifying angles. If the pre-assessment show that the students are having a hard time understanding classifying angles then we will review this before we start our formal lesson. During the lesson I will walk around with a check list to make sure that the students are able to form right, acute, and obtuse angles with their pipe cleaners. I will give them feedback and help. I will mark which students are having difficulty with which angles. My post assessment will be a worksheet on classifying triangles based on their angles. The worksheet has six different triangles, two of each triangle. This worksheet will tell me how much of the lesson that the students have retained and if there were any discrepancies throughout the classes learning. My during assessment was formulated to help students who were hands on tactile learners and students who may have a hard time paying attention. I addressed audio and visual learners throughout my lesson with my PowerPoint and lecture. My ESOL learners sit in pairs so they can get assistance from a peer.
