Joe Peck 2/12/13 6 &7 Theme Paragraph

The theme of Enders Game is that fighting leads to more fighting. This is obvious in the video games and battle simulators but most apparent in the real war taking place between the buggers and the human race. The main character, Ender, has chosen to participate in battle school and command school to train for the real war. Graff, a battle teacher, helps Ender understand the fighting and said, "Ender, we didn't go to them first, they came to us. If they were going to leave us alone, they could have done it a hundred years ago, before the First Invasion." (p. 253). This quote explains why the war started and why the humans wont leave the buggers alone. Another moment in the book that supports this theme is after Ender defeats the buggers, within twenty-four hours the Russians, the Hegemons, the Warsaw Pact, and the Americans are all back to fighting. All but the Warsaw Pact want Ender to fight for them. Throughout the book there is always war or fighting going on whether it is a videogame or in real life.
