1855-Edward Dyer set-up brewery in India. H.G.Meakin bought Solan Brewery from Dyer. After 1st world war two firms merged as Dyer Meakin & Company. 1949- M.M.Meakin took over management. Company was renamed to Mohan Meakin Breweries

McDowell & Co were Wine & Spirits importers. The House of Khodays were established in 1906. Shaw Wallace started in 1948 by acquiring Cutler Palmer & Co as importer. 1965- Vinedale Distilleries was set up in Hyderabad.
