VOCABULARY: units 3 & 4

PHRASAL VERBS: SEPARABLE, INSEPARABLE AND INTRANSITIVE. Separable: transitive phrasal verbs (direct object). When the object is a noun, it can come before or after the particle: turn the light off / turn off the light. When the object is a pronoun, it must come before the particle: turn it off. Inseparable: transitive phrasal verbs, the object (noun or pronoun) must come after the particle: Tony is carrying out the project. / Tony is carrying out the project. Three-part phrasal verbs (two particles) are inseparable: I came up with my friends. Intransitive: intransitive (no object). They cannot be separated from the particle. Anna and Leo broke up last week.
