Indicators * Content and technology standards are mentioned. Comments *Content Standards for Language are covered extensively, but there are no technology standards listed. (TEKS Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) * Standards are for the targeted student group (6-8) *The 4 objectives listed do align with the standards. More objectives could be listed such as writing reviews or summaries to meet all the standards listed. * The tasks/procedure does not focus on the objectives but more on the set up of the accounts for teachers. *It is implied but not directly stated that students should be able to summarize, evaluate, and critique what they have read. *The use of technology and communication is assumed with using Goodreads. There is also an extended activity suggested to use in math class. *Communication- talking about books and connecting with classmates in the group. *Production- creating an account and keeping it up to date with their own reading library and shelves *Critical Thinking- reviewing and analyzing books. *Creativity- n/a *Content- developing a positive reading environment to keep students enjoying reading and active readers. *Problem Solving- n/a *Research- to find their next book of interest. * Students can choose books and reading materials on their own reading level. *Main use is of an item is of the Goodreads website but once again it can be assumed students should also be reading books and/or listening to audio CDs.

* Standards are for the correct grade level and content area. * Objectives are aligned with standards.

* Tasks focus clearly on obtaining the objectives. Requires the use of higher-order thinking skills and new literacies. * Students are asked to do more than memorize or understand (e.g., summarize, synthesize, predict, etc.). * Media, visual, communicative, technological, mathematical, and/ or other nontraditional literacies are addressed. * Communication * Production * Critical thinking * Creativity * Content * Problem solving * Inquiry/research Includes a variety of resources. * Students have choices of materials at different levels. * Materials are available in a variety of modes (e.g., graphics, sound, text, video) and media (e.g., books, films, photos, computer).

Lesson Analysis and Adaptation Activity

Engages all students actively in authentic tasks. * Students have roles/tasks to perform throughout the lesson. * Connections are made between the task and real life. * Students must actively search for answers to essential questions. Uses technology effectively, efficiently, and as a learning tool. * The technology makes the task more authentic. * The technology makes the task easier to accomplish. * The technology helps students complete the task faster than without it. * The technology is secondary to the content and goals. Addresses the needs of a variety of students, including ELLs and students with physical and other challenges. Includes appropriate assessments. * All students can access task instructions. * All students can access task materials and resources. * Students have different ways to accomplish the same objectives. * Assessment is aligned to the standards and objectives. * Assessments are fair for all students and not based on one ability (e.g., writing). * Assessments allow students to show what they know/can do rather than what they cannot. * What the students are doing in the lesson is vague but can be assumed. * Again, it was not directly stated but using Goodreads is a real life task. *Students do not have to search for answers to essential questions. * Yes the technology makes the recording and reviewing of books more authentic. *Yes Goodreads makes keep track of books you have read and books you might like to read a lot easier. *Maybe. Once a student has a Goodreads account the selection of a book to read should be faster but the actual reading and analysis is not made faster by the website. * Yes, the content is all about reading books, Goodreads only helps to organize, discuss, add content to, and select books. * There was very little mention on how the information was going to be given to students. The lesson plan was vague in this area. * Once again there was no mention on how the teacher/s would specifically deliver the lesson to students. * It could be assumed that students can accomplish the same objective in different ways but it was never stated. * The assessment is not clear and only suggested ways a teacher might want to grade students and therefore not aligning with all the objectives. * With the assessment being open to change a teacher using this could easily adapt it to fit all students needs. * The suggestion of a reading award is a great way to recognize what a student can do.
