Rig repairs and refurbishments are Rig Masters core business and our clients always have our undivided attention. We undertake projects anywhere in the world. Rig Masters has a wide range of experience on a variety of unit designs including jack-up and semis, drilling barges, liftboats and posted barges. We have designed drilling and rig service systems and installed OFE/BFE drilling equipment for both conventional and coiled tubing drilling operations. Our staff has broad experience in new construction, repairs and in all drilling ystems. This is achieved through years of hands on operating experience plus regulatory & statutory compliance. We assist obtaining and evaluating bids, preparation and negotiation of contracts, equipment specification, selection and procurement, construction planning and all other activities through commissioning and handover. Our active involvement in repair projects gives us a unique understanding of the failure modes in rigs. Combined with our rig operations experience, we develop ergonomic and maintenance friendly installations and arrangements. Rig Masters has expertise in most of the major disciplines inhouse supplemented by strategic alliances with internationally recognized consultants thereby offering a complete package to clients. The principal of Rig Masters had 20 years of design and corporate management experience with LeTourneau prior to forming Rig Masters in 1992. Our staff all have well over 10 years, and in many cases over 30 years, of rig related experience from construction through operations & engineering and have been involved on new build and repair projects around the world. Rig Masters is experienced with virtually all the jack up rig designs, as well as drillships and semi-submersibles and a wide variety of other vessels. We have worked with all the major classification societies. The principal of Rig Masters has been a member of the American Bureau of Shipping MODU committee for well over a decade and has served on many ABS, IADC and API committees. Rig Masters handles preparation and submittal of structural calculations, stability analyses and drawings as well as provides the necessary technical liaison with the appropriate authorities for design review and approval.

Rig/Operator: B312 / Highway Investment Processing

Project: Keppel B Class rig purchased by the Ukrainians. The legs and derrick were partially removed to allow transit under the bridges in the Bosporus Straights. Rig Masters provided a site team to monitor the activities on the KFELS provided construction team to reinstall the legs and derrick.

Project: Maritime Industrial Services, Ltd, Sharjah, UAE, signed a contract to build two F&G Super M2 drilling rigs MIS first venture into new build rigs. Rig Masters provides project, technical and construction experience to the yard. We reviewed and modified the construction specifications, defined equipment requirements, and assisted the yard in developing all of the drilling and service systems, the build strategy and plan, testing and commissioning procedures, etc. We are also involved in procurement activities.

Design: LeTourneau 116C

Project: FD VII, the ex-GSF Adriatic VII, was severely damaged during Hurricane Rita. The leg, drill floor and helideck were lost. The jacking system was so severely damaged it was replaced. Rig Masters is providing the project management team of the repair and upgrade of this rig. This includes all of the technical support plus procurement of the new drilling equipment.

Rig/Operator: Gulf 3/Gulf Drilling International

Design: LeTourneau

Project: Gulf Drilling converted Gulf 3, a 1977 built LeTourneau slot rig being used as a Mobile Offshore Production Unit to a cantilever jack up drilling rig. As a MOPU, all of the drilling equipment had been removed and the machinery spaces modified. Rig Masters provided a 8 person project team for this project. We reviewed all of the engineering and construction drawings, developed drilling systems, specified and helped source equipment, advised on regulatory compliance everything from start through final commissioning.

Rig/Operator: AD 22/Arabian Drilling Company

Design: Baker Marine

Project: AD 22 was purchased by ADC. Prior to the purchase, the rig had been warm stacked. Rig Masters was project manager for the reactivation in Dubai Dry-docks. The overall scope of work included a complete inspection of the rig hull, legs, ships service and drilling systems. In addition to hull repairs, all major equipment was removed, overhauled, reinstated and commissioned. The high pressure mud and cement piping systems were completely replaced. The accommodation block was partially renewed. The project was completed within the estimated time frame and below the original budget.

Design: MSC

Project: Bima is a 4 legged Multi Purpose Service Vessel designed for operations in S E Asia. After 4 years in service, cracks in the legs were discovered necessitating return of the rig to the building yard in Singapore. Rig Masters was the project and technical manager for the leg repairs plus rig modifications. We supervised a detailed failure analysis to determine the cause of the weld failures. We also directed an extensive fracture mechanics assessment to justify repair of only about 50% of the defects while the rig continued drilling operations with no shutdown. Bima is still in service.

Design: Hitachi

Project: Installation of three leg sections, approximately 67 ft. long each. Due to crane limits in the shipyard, we first cut the existing sections in two pieces resulting in 6 sections of leg to be erected. We fabricated and installed the skid frames for the leg installation and then erected the 6 leg sections per leg. The project was completed ahead of schedule and without a repair in over 200 high strength welds.

Design: 5th Generation Semi-submersible

Project: General support for completion and repair activities prior to the first drilling location including installation of a 4th National 14P220 including the interconnecting piping.
