<.:Introduction:.>

If asked what The Occult is, the average non religious person whos only seen or heard the word occult in horror movies will generally think it has something to with the paranormal, quija boards, seances, spirit channeling & other hocus pocus nonsense. And I would agree, the occult is all of those things.

Ask the nearest bible thumper, or follower of one of the other abrahamic religions what the occult is, and you are 99.99 percent of the time guaranteed to get a nice lil mini-lecture about satanic orgies (overated), sacrifice of virgins (underated)e, witchcraft & paganism. And I would also agree with them, the Occult is all of things. (note: its amusingly ironic hearing christians, especially catholics rant & rave about paganism considering how much pagan ideas, traditions & customs have been incorporated into christianity. The eucharist in the Catholic church is a good example. The preist consecrates the bread and wine, transforming them into the blood and body of Christ. Its not a metaphor either they literally believe they are eating Jesus flesh and drinking his blood. If that is not a magical act, I dont know what is. See part 4 of this article for links to more info on this subject).

In this short article I will give a very basic introduction to magic and the Occult. This article is split into three parts,; Part One: The Occult, what the word means and what the Occult is, Part Two: Magic, a very basic introduction to what magic really is, Part Three: More Information, where I will give links websites with further reading.
