PROFILE

I am a first-year student and journalist at Ohio University, studying in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. EDUCATION

INVOLVEMENT The New Political I have been a campus writer for The New Political since the beginning of fall semester 2012. Beginning April 2013, I have taken on the role of Campus Editor for this publication, managing 4 to 5 writers. Ive covered a variety of campus events and lectures, interviewing students and professionals regarding a variety of topics. The New Political specializes in covering topics concerning student governance and interests, such as OU Student Senate and activist groups. WOUB Public Media I work as a digital/radio reporter for WOUB Public Media, an NPR and PBS broadcast station. I have reported on many topics in a newsroom environment, and have published many short-form pieces. I produce weekly newscasts that are broadcast on FM radio. I am on the city council beat and work as a videographer for weekly Athens City Council meetings. Im currently involved with a long-term multimedia project under the mentorship of WOUBs director Tom Hodson covering the history of K-12 public education funding in Ohio. HTC/ONCA Media Team I work at 35 Park Place on the HTC Media team, writing magazine articles for Ampersand, HTCs alumni publication. I also publish the colleges weekly newsletter and have done fact-checking work for the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards undergrad research publication, Inquiry. HONORS R. Randolph Apgar Journalism Ethics Scholarship Awarded for demonstration of keen sense of ethicality in practicing journalism at Ohio University Ohio University Academic Achievement Awarded for achieving a GPA over 3.5 last semester; I received a 4.0 for the Fall 2012 semester. Acceptance to E.W. Scripps Study Abroad in Leipzig, Germany this summer
