Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media

products? In our 2 minute opening clip to a horror film our conventions of horror are that we have a stereotypical killer whose mentality is revenge his weapon he uses is a knife we thought this was a good weapon to use because of the film psycho the murder weapon throughout psycho is a knife as you can see below the similarity we have with the film psycho.

Also in our 2 minute opening to the horror film we have our stereotype characters for example a nerd who is lonely and doesnt have many friends, a popular boy and girl who get along extremely well and are best friends but most of the time are arrogant and cocky.

With our lighting we had to be quick with what we were doing because we didnt want it to turn to dark whilst filming but throughout the darkness is effective because it builds tension and insecurity just because dark is more dangerous than light. We thought our location scouting was effective because stereotypically a school is a safe environment to be in but when the school day has ended and everything is deserted anything could happen for example in scream the opening scene when Drew Barrymores character is murdered her death is in an isolated location miles away from town.

When we were choosing sound/music for the 2 minute opening to our horror film we wanted a tension building piece of music that entices the audience to feel unsettled but interested to know what will happen next.

Throughout horror and slasher films a lot do have masked killers for example scream and Friday the 13th as you can see below.

But we decided not to have a mask because this is a revenge plot and we wanted to make the audience think not who the killer is. But who will be next to be killed/murdered. Similar to Freddy Krueger his scar may have distorted his face but he doesnt wear a mask as you can see below.
