To Whom It May Concern: I have supervised Rebecca Anderson from January through June of 2013 as part of the Simmons College Practicum. Rebecca is a candidate for Educator Licensure, Moderate Special Needs, Grades 5-12, in Massachusetts. Rebecca has been at The Landmark School, a secondary school for students with language based learning disabilities, in Beverly, Massachusetts, since September, 2008. Rebecca teaches Language Arts and Reading Fluency to classes of five to seven students. Rebecca plans her lessons based on the Massachusetts Frameworks. She uses the information from her students IEPs when planning her lessons. Lesson objectives are explicit with measurable outcomes. Rebecca provides a variety of learning experiences that allow her students to become engaged and meet the standards. Rebecca teaches her lessons in a very effective manner. She always posts the lesson agenda and communicates the lesson objectives to her students. Rebecca builds on her students experiences and prior knowledge. She adjusts her teaching to meet the needs of her students. Rebeccas teaching style creates a very positive classroom climate. Her students feel free to ask and answer questions. Students are aware of the routines and procedures that Rebecca has put in place. A feeling of mutual respect is evident when one observes in her classroom. Rebecca has high expectations for her students. She makes adjustments to the curriculum whenever necessary to ensure that each student stays on task and achieves to the best of his/her ability. Rebecca is respected by her colleagues and works well with them. Rebecca is always looking for ways to improve her teaching and very open to suggestions and advice.
