QUESTION 1
Our questionnaire as shown has a even distribution of males and females, 5 boys and 5 girls. Having a evenly distributed audience allows us to gain a fair judgement without any gender bias. We will be able to gain a overall wider understanding for our product that both genders will gratify from and to equally enjoy ( U&G theory)

The music video that we will be producing will be aimed at a teenage audience. Therefore this subjected our audience which we asked to participate in our questionnaire. This will give us a better and more specific idea of the demands and expectations our audience have for our product. Specifying and targeting our audience ensures that we will include codes and conventions demanded by the age group we aim to satisfy.

QUESTION 3
8 6 4 2 0 Design 1 Design 2 Design 3 Design 4 From our 4 different digipaks it was apparent that design 3 was most preferred for the front panel. Design 3 was the only design which was in colour, therefore could be a reason as to why it was preferred. However this has ensured that we will include colour within our front panel and also the other 3 panels. The front panel of design 3 is a establishing shot, this allows the audience to gain a wider understanding of the genre of album and ideology of the artist. This however does not leave a wide gap for enigma for the audience.

QUESTION 4
Both design 2 and 3 were of equal preference. Therefore we will try an incorporate both aspects of the panel. Design 2 includes a horizontal format of the track list and design 3 has a vertical format for the track list, therefore for our final product we could possibly have and even distribution of horizontal and vertical songs from the track list. Both designs have the main focal point of the image in the centre of the frame. This will also be considered for out final product. Both images also flow with the context of the other panels. There is a constant theme throughout both designs and allows the audience to follow through the album like it were a story; being an example of the cultivation theory.

Font type 8 was chosen as most popular then all the other fonts. This was also considered most suitable for our genre and would also represent the genre best. The font is almost italic and similar to hand writing. This would give the album a more personal touch and a greater interaction with artist and fans therefore is something we wish to include within out final product

QUESTION 6
As predicted the audience of our questionnaire all agreed that we should include a variety of shots for our final piece. Each camera shot would represent a different aspect of our genre and artist. This will allow the audience to have deeper proximity with the artist as they will be able to relate through close ups of facial expressions and also gain a wider knowledge of them as a individual through long shots and establishing shots.

QUESTION 7
Black and white colour schemes were not only chosen as most popular within our questionnaire but also within our research it was evident for a soft rock genre that this colour scheme was most used. There were also subtle colour schemes within the black and white one for example a shade of red was present despite everything else in the frame being black and white. This is the colour scheme which we will use in our final product to represent the light and dark aspects of the genre and the artists lifestyle.

QUESTION 8

No

Yes

Similarly to the previous question and response it was evident that the audience prefer a selection of lighting schemes and colour schemes. In our final product we aim to satisfy this however we will also keep some consistency throughout each panel so that they can combine and come together to complete a overall story for the audience. The different lightings used will highlight different features of each frame and will be more prominent for the audience, therefore they will not be bombarded with too many concepts and ideology's. This way they are able to construct their own individual profile of how the artist will be and can then gratify from this; uses and gratification.

QUESTION 9
Social networking sites were chosen as the most successful form of advertising on a cd album. Therefore this is what we assume our audience would prefer to see on a album which they would chose to buy. Facebook and twitter links increases the media platforms that the album can be marketed on and therefore broadens the audience. Developing facebook pages for the artist and also creating twitter accounts increases the artists image and could therefore be a new method of distributing their product. Including these social networking links onto the album allows the audience to extended their appeal of the artist and could actively chose to extend their research and continue to support the artist. The likelihood that if they liked the album they would be likely to show interest in other albums and concerts etc.

Design 1 included a Getting to know section. This allows the artist to present themselves to the audience. The audience can identify with their artist and gain a wider knowledge and insight of their lifestyle. This also increases the proximity between audience and artist. Through the Uses and Gratification theory the audience gratifies from being able to identify with the artist and feels like they have developed a more personal relationship with them, therefore this is something that we will aim to include within our cd digipac.

QUESTION 11
Design 3 included a close up of the artist, again similarly to the previous question it is evident that the audience prefer a more intense and more personal relationship with the artist. This is through close ups of his face/facial expressions and a personal touch from the artist, e.g. a Getting to Know section. The audience through Uses and Gratification are able to establish themselves like the artist and are also gratified by their appearance and all round persona.

QUESTION 12
Design 4 includes elements which have not been overall popular with our audience however they have established that these conventions are more associated with the soft rock genre. For example the primary image on the front panel is of a silhouette of the artist, this opposes to the intimate imagery that was previously chosen from other panels. Therefore we will have to challenge the generic conventions of a soft rock genre in order to appeal more to our audience. However we will still include some generic conventions from this design to maintain the expectations of soft rock fans, for example the artist imagery and logos of the brand itself.
