ABSENCES TO TAKE EXAMS

Employee should advise his/her Supervisor at least one week in advance of the employee's need to be absent from work and supervisor must be shown substantiating documentation from the academic institution if so requested. Regular Tests - One day (1/2 day to study & 1/2 day to take the exam) When the test is in the morning, the employee is excused for the afternoon of the day prior and the morning of the day the test is taken. When the test is in the afternoon or evening, the employee is excused for the whole day (NOTE: our students should be taking evening classes, so would be excused for the day of the exam). Final Exams - Two days for each subject (1 day to prepare & 1 day to take the exam) If the exams are on separate days, the day before the exam and the day of the exam are excused If the exams are on consecutive days, the employee may be excused for a period corresponding to the number of exams x 2 days. Holidays and weekends are counted as days for preparing for exams. So, if an exam is on a Monday, or a day following a holiday, only the time to take the exam (1 day or 1/2 day) is an excused absence.
