REPORT ON OPEN MEETING 12 February 2009

We had Three Guest Speakers at this meeting.

Sheeba Mir (Sutton’s Neighbourhood Health Development Co-ordinator) works for Birmingham
East & North Primary Care Trust (BENPCT) which covers many health services including GPs,
dentists, opticians, pharmacists & also most of the nursing care in the community.
Sheeba works within Public & Patient Involvement (PPI), which is concerned with service planning,
operation & changes. She liaises with local residents & feeds their views back to the PCT.
Contact her at Waterlinks House in Aston. Her direct line is 380 9193 & mobile

Louise Mitchell, (a Podiatrist) holds a podiatry clinic at Carlton House, Mere Green.
This Podiatry Service is free & referrals can be made by any GP or Practice Nurse.
New patients are seen within 2 weeks & regular treatments can be arranged at 12 week intervals.
Some conditions are treated more frequently. Podiatry is very important for diabetic patients.
For information about the Podiatry Service ring 332 1900.
Julie Robinson is a specialist in the benefits of gentle exercise. Instead of
talking at great length about her work, she gave the audience a “taster” to show
us what her classes are like. This was great fun & we all enjoyed participating
instead of simply listening. Julie can be contacted on 077 1169 63 08.

Other Topics Raised During the Meeting

Changes in the Management at Sainsburys. Free help & advice on the management of
debt problems from Trading Standards. Problems with blocked drains & roadside
puddles. We have tried to get the above problems dealt with, but it hasn’t rained much
since then!

FAREWELL & THANKS TO THERESA

We are sorry that Theresa Tamman is to leave her post as Manager of our Community
Centre. Apparently she is needed in the Sutton Council Offices. Matt Hill will be taking
responsibility for the Community Centre building, but will also be in charge of two other
facilities.
