Tarleton alumnus visits for wildlife photography workshop

March 22, 2013 2:06 pm By Blair Smith The first wildlife photography workshop, where students can learn how to capture wildlife around them, is scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. Tarleton alumnus Dave Carter is hosting the event, which will cover equipment, exposure, shutter speed, composition, camera settings and photo editing. Carter, a former Tarleton student, has been involved with wildlife photography for 20 years. He has captured nature at many game ranches and has had his work published in several magazines. Dr. Wayne Atchley, assistant professor and Graduate Program coordinator, set up the event. Students will meet in the Joe W. Autry Agricultural Building room 302 Friday from 3-5 p.m. where they will be getting to know their camera and settings. Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., students will begin at Ag 302 and continue at Hunewell Ranch. Lunch will be provided. Transportation will not be provided, but students are meeting behind the Ag Building and driving to the ranch as a group. Atchley said, I dont believe getting there should be a problem. I know several attendees are taking their cars. Students should remember that they will be outdoors during the event. Atchley said, We will be walking around the ranch, so they should dress appropriately. Comfortable shoes and a light jacket would be a good idea. Participation is free but is limited to 15 students. Students must sign up before the event and may do so in Atchleys office. Any photography skill level is welcome. They wish to fill all seats before Friday.
