A Turkish mob wrecked the new, unfinished building of the Italian Embassy in Constantinople due to high costs of living and famine. The police did not stop the mob as they broke doors, windows, and took everything portable. Four thousand Muslim women protested against the war in front of the government building and were charged by troops. The mob also regularly looted bakeries which are now guarded by police. Many wounded people from the Dardanelles operations are arriving in Constantinople but many die due to lack of medical care and space in hospitals. Massacres of Armenians continue and Greeks are being threatened with the same fate.

Italian Embassy Wrecked--Famine Stricken Mobs Seize Bread
Special Cable to THE NEW YORK TIMES. ROME, Oct. 10 (dispatch to The London Daily News.)--According to news from Athens, a Turkish mob has wrecked the new building of the Italian Embassy at Constantinople, which has not yet been completed. The police passively looked on while the building was devastated. Doors and windows were broken, and everything portable was carried away. The rioting was provoked by the high cost of living. Four thousand Moslem women assembled in front of the Sublime Porte and held an anti-war demonstration. The were charged and distressed by the troops and the police. The mob regularly loots the bakers' shops, which are now guarded by the police. The optimism of the Young Turks, due to Bulgaria's intervention, as not shared by the population, and the reports purposely spread that the Anglo-French forces have abandoned operations on the Dardanelles are belled by the enormous number of wounded who arrive daily in Constantinople. Many are dying owing to lack of medical attendance and hospital accommodation. The massacres of Armenians continue and the Turks are openly threatening the Greeks with the same fate.
