The 54th Annual 2013 Ann Arbor Street Art Fair- the Original
Wednesday through Saturday, July 17th-20th- W-F 10 am- 9 pm, Sat. 10 am- 6 pm
Established in 1960, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is the Original of the now four award winning art fairs, which together attract over 500,000 attendees from across the nation. Among the many accolades received by the fair is the Number One Art Fair rating in the country (October 2004) and Top Ten Art Fair (October 2005, 2006 and 2007) by the AmericanStyle readers survey. The Art Fair takes place on the Ingalls Mall Lawn by the Burton Memorial Tower, North University, and the Diag on the Central Campus at the University of Michigan. 174 carefully selected juried artists from 35 states, as well as Ontario and Great Britain, attend the Art Fair. The award winning Street Art Fair provides something for art enthusiasts of all interests. Rekindle your youth at the Art Zone activities, where Michigan Art Education Association organizes a variety of projects each day. Eastern Michigan University art teachers in training supervise interactive clay sculpting. Take a moment to learn new techniques at one of the eighteen exhibiting artists on-site demonstrations, where these select artists show how its done several times each day. Or sit back and take a break in the action with entertaining street performances featuring world famous boogie-woogie piano player Mr. B. Shuttle Bus service is provided by the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority from Pioneer High School and Briarwood Mall for a small fee or at the new municipal parking structure on Forest Ave. between South University and Willard. This event, which is composed of 4 independent fairs, draws more than 1,000 artists and more than half a million visitors over 4 days. In addition to the fairs, there are free concerts and a variety of food and drink vendors. The 2013 Featured Artist is Geoffrey Harris.
