5K WALK AND RUN TO BENEFIT HOMELESS MOTHERS AND CHILDREN IN CENTRE COUNTY A nonprofit organization takes an aggressive step to end homelessness for mothers and children in Centre County by hosting a 5K walk and run. The 5K walk and run, hosted by non-profit Bridge of Hope Centre County, will be held Saturday, May 11 at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg from 9 a.m. to noon in celebration of Mothers Day. All proceeds from the event will help the Bridge of Hope Centre County support homeless mothers and children. Last year more than 150 walkers and runners helped us raise nearly $15 thousand, said Regina Diller, Executive Director at Bridge of Hope. This year we hope to have a successful walk again and meet our goal of raising $20 thousand to help more single mother families. The Mothers Day 5K walk and run will wind through the local neighborhoods of Boalsburg. The event is family friendly and will feature music, food, and a silent auction. All walkers and runners can register at the Bridge of Hope website by May 8; participants who register online before April 24 will receive a free t-shirt. The online registration fees are $25 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Pre-registration will begin at 8 a.m. and interested prospects can register for $30 the day of the event.

BRIDGE OF HOPE CENTRE COUNTY TO HELP HOMELESS MOTHERS, Add 1 Bridge of Hope National was founded in 2002 to help put an end to homeless mothers and children. Today there are 16 Bridge of Hope affiliates in 8 states. Each Bridge of Hope affiliate uses the three way partnership model. The model pairs each participant with a social worker and a church based mentoring group to help single mothers attain financial stability, find employment, work toward personal goals and build friendships with mentors.
