This document outlines a Sunday school lesson about achieving faith. It discusses three types of faith: faith of God for salvation, faith with God shown through fruit of the spirit, and faith for God which is faith that achieves things for God. Faith for God involves obeying God's clear directions, as shown through biblical examples like the disciples casting out a demon and Noah building the ark. To have achieving faith, one must be obedient to God's commands rather than taking their own initiative.

19/05/2013 TOPIC: ACHIEVING FAITH M/V: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Heb. 11:1). INTRODUCTION: Faith as the word implies is used in ways related to our usefulness as believers here on earth. However, we dont have only one kind of faith. We have three kinds of faith. Firstly, we have faith of God. This is the faith a sinner exercises toward Christ for his salvation (Acts. 13:8). Secondly, we have faith with God. This is that Christian integrity or faithfulness that is one of the fruit of the spirit (II Tim. 4:7). Thirdly, we have faith for God. This is the faith we shall deliberate on today. I. WHAT IS FAITH FOR GOD? It is achieving faith. It is for achievement in the work of God. In the presence of the demon possessed child, the disciples asked Jesus why could we not cast it out. Look at Jesus answer (Matt. 17:19 -20). II. THE VALIDITY OF THIS FAITH PRINCIPLE (Heb. 11:33). a. It was by this kind of faith that the old covenant warriors conquered kingdom stopped the mouth of lions, etc. Such faith is one of the gifts of the spirit. (I Corn. 12:9; James 5:15). Paul had such achieving faith in mind when he wrote to Thessalonians recalling their work of faith and labor of love. (I Thess. 1:3). b. It was also illustrated by Noah (Heb. 11:7). This is faith for the work of God. III. WHAT IS AN ACT OF FAITH? (Heb. 11:7). It simply means an act of obedience to a clear and distinct direction of God. It is the condition for achieving faith. Therefore, achieving faith is not man taking the initiative, it is man responding to Gods initiative (Luke 5:5). Peter was not very aware of achieving faith, but he was aware of a direct command and he responded with obedience. This kind of faith accomplishes things for God. Therefore, what you should be aware must not be whether Gods instruction or direction will come to pass or not. Be aware of what Gods direc t command is and then respond with obedience.
