Cold Mode Operation

SMCS - 1901

During cold mode operation, the injection of fuel is limited and the fuel injection timing is adjusted by the Electronic Control Module (ECM). Cold mode helps reduce the possibility of engine damage and cold mode helps to minimize white smoke. During cold mode, the timing is advanced in reference to the engine coolant temperature. Cold mode is activated whenever the engine coolant temperature is below 70 C (158 F). Cold mode remains active until the engine coolant temperature is warmer than 72 C (162 F).
