We use
the PRESENT CONTINUOUS:
• to describe an action in progress or temporary
action in the present.

• with the time expressions:


expressions
now, at the moment, today, tonight, this
evening.

Rules and form
• verbs ending in –e:
– drop the -e and add -ing.
ex: dance – dancing
• one syllable verbs (consonant + vowal +consonant)
– double consonant + -ing.
ex: swim – swimming
• verbs ending in -ie
– change to -y + -ing .
ex: lie – lying
die - dying
