    Question: Have you ever been to Rome, Italy?

    Answers:

    Yes, I have! Ive been to Rome (once, twice, etc.). Ive been there (once, twice, etc.).

    No, I havent! I havent been to Italy. I havent been there. Ive never been to Rome. Ive never been there

    Ever is NOT used in statements. It is only used in questions with the present perfect. The preposition to is used with be in the present perfect Ive been to Australia. Shes been to 45 out of the 50 states in America.
