In September 1939, Germany invaded Poland, causing Britain and France to declare war on Germany. Germany used many different types of attracts to keep the allies from affecting their plans for Poland. As they invaded Poland, Germans started mass deportation. During this time thousands of Jews were killed.

In August of 1936 the summer Olympics were beginning and many thought that with the rise of the Nazi party, segregation would make it difficult to travel and see the games. But surprisingly, the Nazis temporarily removed many segregation signs while the Olympics were in session.

Wiesel, Elie. Night. New York: Bantam Books, 1986. Print. The short novel Night is a powerful book about a guy, who at the time he was sent to a ghetto, was just a young teenager. The novel shares many of the harsh and disgusting things that the Nazis did during WWII.

Synthesis: The short novel Night is about a young boy named Elie Wiese who is also the author. When he is only a teenager, his family is sent to a ghetto where they live until his family is split up. His mom and sisters are sent off while Elie and his father are sent to a concentration camp. There, he struggles for every bit of food and also life. He often sees his dad being undermined by some of the other Jewish prisoners. Your best friend was no longer that, but instead your new enemy. The conditions are bad

and hundreds die every day. Once in the story it describes everyone lining up for an exam by Dr. Mengele, a notorious doctor who liked to use prisoners for medical experiments. He was given the name Angel of Death, referring to how he treated his patients. The things that occurred during the holocaust were unimaginable, and that is why so many people alive then did not believe that many of those things were happening.
