Selecting Scenes for Shooting (Mode Dial)


Rotate the mode dial and align an icon to the mark to select one of the following shooting modes.

j, k, l, m mode (A69) Choose these modes for greater control over shutter speed and aperture value.

M User setting mode (A108) Setting combinations that are frequently used for shooting can be saved. The saved settings can be immediately retrieved for shooting simply by rotating the mode dial to M. F Smart portrait mode (A65) The camera detects smiling faces using face priority and releases the shutter automatically. The Skin softening function makes a human subjects skin appear smoother.

A Auto mode (A28) An automatic, point-andshoot mode recommended for firsttime users of digital cameras.

Scene mode (A45) Shoot with settings suitable for the scene by choosing one of the scene modes. y (Scene): Choose the desired scene from 15 different scene types, and the cameras settings are automatically optimized for the selected scene. In Scene auto selector mode, the camera automatically selects the optimum scene mode for simpler shooting. j (Night landscape): Produces night landscape shots with reduced blurring and noise, or capture the atmosphere of a night landscape with a slow shutter speed. e (Night portrait): The flash fires to light the portrait subject while preserving the atmosphere of the evening or night view. o (Backlighting): The flash fires to prevent the backlit subject from being hidden in shadow, or the HDR function can be used to shoot scenes with high contrast.
