INTERNATIONAL UNION FOR CONSERVATION OF NATURE

What we do
Collect and analyse species-level trait information to gain insights into vulnerability to climate change.
Use resulting data to contribute towards climate change adaptation strategies and inform the Red Lists assessment of extinction risk. Liaise with the recently formed SSC Climate Change Specialist Group to ensure that other SSC members consider climate change appropriately as part of their work.

Recently started projects and proposals in preparation where cross programme cooperation is required
CC vulnerability assessments of freshwater species of the Tropical Andes (confirmed) with BAU (CCU component begins Oct 2013). CEPF Ecosystem Profile, Guinean Forests Hotspot (submitted) with FBU and PACO. CC vulnerability assessments of trees of Borneo (submitted) [hopefully!] with RLU (P4P) GTSG, and BGCI. MacArthur Foundation-funded CC vulnerability assessment Phase 2 (submitted) Scope not yet fully defined, but will undoubtedly require cross-programme cooperation. + 3 other confirmed projects without cross programme cooperation. Two in progress, one upcoming.
