ABSTRACT

ELBOW JOINT DISLOCATION


AT HASAN SADIKIN HOSPITAL
PERIOD JANUARY 2004 – DECEMBER 2008

Background : Elbow joint dislocation represent 20% of all dislocation, the


injury occurs most in young people as a result of high energy
trauma but can nevertheless occur after seemingly minor fall onto
an out stretched hand. Some 90% of elbow joint dislocation are
posterior. Anterior, medial or lateral dislocation are rare.

Method : During January 2004 until December 2008, 28 persons with


elbow joint dislocation were recorded and we analysis with
retrospectif method.

Results : 28 persons recorded with among the case insidence rate on man
increase rapidly from 17 cases (60.7%) than woman on 11 cases
(39.3%). 11 cases on age 10-30 years (39.3%), 6 cases on age 30-
40 years (21.4%), 6 cases on age 40-50 years (21.4%), 5 cases on
age more than 50 years (17.8%). 12 cases recorded as a traffic
accident (42.8%), 10 cases come from workplace accident
(35.7%), 6 cases recorded by the minor injury (21.4%). 25 cases is
purely posterior elbow joint dislocation (89.2%), and 2 cases is
anterior elbow joint dislocation (7.14%), 1 case is medial elbow
joint dislocation (3.5%) and there is no case have been recorded on
lateral elbow joint dislocation. 28 cases recorded as elbow joint
dislocation (19.3%) and 67 cases recorded as other dislocation.

Conclusion : More cases recorded increas on man than a woman, cases


accompanied with traffic accident and the relation with
mobilitation pruductivity. The posterior dislocation of elbow joint
have a higher numbers than the other side dislocation on this case.
