SUMMARY: Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high.

Glucose comes from the foods you eat. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. Over time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause serious problems. It can damage your eyes, kidneys, and nerves. There are 2 types of diabetes, the type 1 diabetes (also known as insulin dependent diabetes or juvenile diabetes) and the type 2 diabetes ( also known as non-insulin dependent or adult onset diabetes). Nowadays, stem cells were used to treat diabetes. Stem cells are biological cells found in all multicellular organisms, that can divide (through mitosis) and differentiate into diverse specialized cell types and can selfrenew to produce more stem cells. In mammals, there are two broad types of stem cells: embryonic stem cells, which are isolated from the inner cell mass of blastocysts, and adult stem cells, which are found in various tissues.
