II) Receiver Sensitivity Measurement of optical Interfaces of Fibcom 6335/6350 Equipment. Test Description: In this test the STM-1/stm-4/STM-16/STM-64 optical transmitter output is attenuated to the minimum receive input power specified and looped back in the optical receiver input. Test Equipment: Optical Power Meter, 2Mb BER/ lower trib STM Tester,Test leads, fiber optic patch cord, Optical variable attenuator.

Test Procedure: By using patch cord, connect the optical transmit signal of one port to an optical attenuator and connect to receive port and force the laser ON by using LCT/ECT software. Make the set up and make connectivity to physical STM/E1 available in Fibcom 6350/6335 equipment. Set the STM/2 Mb tester and begin the BER test. Attenuate the optical signal till the SDH node indicates a BER alarms. Run the test for 2 minutes at attenuation slightly less than the attenuation where errors were observed. No error should be observed during the test period. Disconnect the patch cord from the equipment and check the power through power meter. Repeat the above procedure for all STM optical ports also.

Results: Slot Port No. STM-1 STM-4 STM-16 STM-64
