Meditation Moments

1. Read the Book of Philippians this week. 2. In Chapter 3:17, Paul said to follow his example and then to note those who walk like him, using them as a pattern for our lives. Reflect for a momentwho do you know that you can take note of that would reflect the life of Paul. Write down some of the characteristics of this person that you would like to pattern your life after. Place this list in your Bible where you can frequently refer to itafter all, its your pattern for living for Christ. 3. Find a quiet spot (or moment), take a deep breathnow honestly ask yourselfdo you EAGERLY WAIT for the Savior? If not, why not? What is in your life (or not in your life) that causes you to not be excited about the return of our Lord? Is it that you are too attached to the world? Is your citizenship here rather than in Heaven? 4. Read 4:2-3. After studying the book of Philippians and reading these passages, describe in at least two or three sentences, how important likemindedness, church unity, was to the Apostle Paul and, I think we can thus conclude, to God. 5. What was it about Paul that caused him to constantly call for rejoicing? 6. Why is it important that we let our gentleness, sweet reasonableness, forbearance, be seen by the world (4:5)? 7. What anxieties, worries do you hold on to that sometimes rob you of the peace of God? What are you going to do with them? (4:6-7) 8. In 4:8-9, Paul enumerates qualities that a mature Christian will value, will seek after; will want to spend her time pursuing. Though you may not be seeking or pursuing things that are wrong in and of themselves, are you spending your time in things that have no value; that are worthless? Evaluate your schedule and see where you need to begin pursuing more true, noble, just, pure, lovely things. Find time to be still (and quiet) and meditate on virtuous, praiseworthy things. And the peace of God will be with you.
