Bronte School Headmasters Newsletter

12th July 2013

Speeches and PrizegivingTuesday 16th July. Please make sure you know the arrangements. Infants4pmthe children will be taken to the church next door for you to meet them there. Juniors7pmplease make sure the children are in their seats no later than ten minutes before the start. The church car park will be open for use from 3.15pm until late evening. There is a reception after the Juniors Speeches and Prizegiving in the school hall. Both ceremonies celebrate the achievements of all boys and girls. Inevitably there will be some disappointment at not receiving a prize or trophy but please remember that the teachers have thought long and hard about who should receive the awards and, of course, we do recognise and applaud everyones success and achievement in the weekly assemblies. If Tuesdays dress rehearsal and Wednesdays extra performance of Twelfth Night are anything to go by, last nights performance will receive a rave review. I have asked the bursar, Mr. Spain, to write his comments to be included in next terms first newsletter. I know I myself can say congratulations to everyoneit is an amazing production. In the meantime, enjoy the photographs. This morning we are looking forward to Brontes Got Talent winning performances in assembly from Frank Masters, Tom Ansell and Lakshmi Lakha. Frank, Tom and Jeevan Kennedy will be performing on Tuesday; today is an opportunity for both the Infants and Juniors to see and hear the performances. (Jeevan is at her next school today; Lakshmi will not be performing on Tuesday because of all her other commitments!). Sports Day was a glorious dayfor weather, for performance and for enjoyment. Thank you for your attendance and support. The field looked an absolute picture on both sides of the track. Thanks, Mr. Ansell, for the use of your marqueethanks and congratulations to Mrs. Rogers for her splendid organisation of the dayand well done to all the children especially Hood and Leon Rati, our victor ludorum.

DE Photos have provided us with hundreds of photographsthese are the ones which are on line at www.dephoto.biz/brontethey are certainly worth ordering. These are Mrs. Lippards photographs - thank youthey really capture the lovely atmosphere.

Summer Fayre You wont believe itbut we raised about 1650 in just under two hourshow good is that! Thank you so much, Mrs. Brown, for all your hard work and generosity. The success of the day was assured by you and your team of helpersnot forgetting the weather, of course. It just shows what can be achieved.

This afternoon we are looking forward to a visit from Adam Holloway MP. He is coming to talk to Years 5 and 6. We were all delighted, particularly Mrs. Prescott, when we took delivery of The Power of Poetry books which arrived last Friday. These contained the published poems of many children in Year 5 and Year 6 together with several children from Year 4. The children were so excited when they arrived and this publication demonstrates the high calibre of work that the children have produced. Next Wednesday morning we have a leavers assembly then a final assembly when we say our farewells to Year 6, as they move on to their secondary schools. We wish them every happiness and success in the future. We thank them too for what they have achieved in support of Year 6 Enterprises. They have raised enough money to buy an Epsom ceiling mounted projector for the Hall which will replace the overhead projector which we have used for many a year. Thank you so much. Mrs. Dyson joins me in sending you our best wishes for a very happy summer holiday with your families and in thanking you for your support this year.

The end of summer term draw for the Bronte Friends 100 Club will be made in assembly this morning.
