Humanities comes from the Latin word HUMANUS, which means human, Cultured, and refined. To be human is to have or show qualities like rationality, Kindness, and tenderness. Protagoras- the Greek philosopher quoted that man is the measure of all things Aesthetics- refers to the forms and psychological effects of arts to human. Artist- a person who possess exceptional skills in all various of arts. Kinds/areas of arts(Humanities)dance, music, drama/theatre, literature, visual arts. Process of creativity- ARTISTPERFORMERAUDIENCE

1.Visual arts- anything that is perceived by the naked eye. The GRAPHIC ARTS- two dimensional form. a. Painting e. commercial arts-book design b. Drawing f. photography c. Graphic processes d. engraving The PLASTIC ARTS- three dimensional form. a. Architecture g. industrial design b. Landscape architecture h. dress and costume design c. City planning i. theater design d. Interior design e. Sculpture f. crafts

2.LITERATURE- art of combining spoken and written words and their meanings into form. a. Drama b. Essay c. prose fiction d. Poetry e. Miscellaneous 3.MUSIC- the art of arranging sounds in rhythmic succession and generally in combination. a. Vocal music b. Instrumental music c. Cantata- sacred musical drama in concert form. d. Other forms- music used in motion picture (soundtrack).

4. DRAMA AND THEATRE- a story re-created by actors on stage in front of an audience. a. Tragedy b. Melodrama c. MEDIUMS OF THE VISUAL ARTS PAINTING- oil, tempera, pastel, water color, fresco, acrylic- modern material (paint like mixed with oil or water color). SCULPTUREsubtractive and additive. Stone(diamond), bronze(platinum), wood, ivory ARCHITECTURE- post and lintel, cantilever, arch. Modern material such as steel, fiber glass, pre-cast, hardi-flex etc.
