Class: Year 9 Subject: ITS Date: 28 May 2013 Lesson Teacher: Brendan Ramnath Lesson Observer: Michelle Constantine A gamification strategy using PowerPoint (see Binary Relay) was used to get the students excited about the work with binary conversions. The students that were chosen for the game were highly engaged however the class as a whole did not pay attention. My plan to engage those students is to have worksheets that they are able to complete whilst the game is in progress. The classroom setting is highly competitive and engaged when it comes to winning a competition. Class: Year 9 Subject: ITS Date: 5 June 2013 Lesson Teacher: Brendan Ramnath Lesson Observer: Michelle Constantine The students continued working on their practice exam whilst researching relevant topics. I was able to assert classroom conditions whereby students worked throughout the lesson and also started to help each other. The quiet classroom environment allowed me to assist every student and also check their previous work. The individual consultation was beneficial as I could ensure students understood the topics. Further into the lesson the students illustrated their solutions on the board and I utilised a PowerPoint to show the answers (see Practice Test Paper Answers). The PowerPoint mentioned students that were able to complete certain coding patterns that I had issues with. The students solved complex problems and were engaged in learning as they were able to teach the class their process.
