    This West African folktale explains why the thumb lives separately from the other fingers. In the story, the four fingers are arguing about who is hungriest, tallest, and should cook. The thumb grows tired of their fighting and says "too much fuss, too much fight." The thumb then leaves the arguing fingers and says "see you later, good night!" Ever since, the thumb has lived apart from the quarreling fingers.
