Processing Problems

Capping is the partial or complete separation of top or bottom crowns of tablets main body.

Lamination is the separation of the tablet into two or more distinct layers.

Picking is the removal of the surface material of a tablet by a punch.

Sticking is the adherence of tablet material to the die walls resulting in chipping of tablet edges producing rough edges and causing the lower punches uneasy to move resulting in damage of cam tracks and punch faces.

Logo Bridging occurs when the coating fills in the lettering or logo on the tablet.

Peeling is a processing problem Orange peel roughness is a surface wherein the coating peels off from defect resulting in the film being rough. the tablet.

Mottling is the unequal distribution of color on the tablet surface with light and dark areas standing out in an otherwise uniform colored surface.

Twinning is the term for two tablets that stick together.

Cracking is a processing problem wherein there are film cracks across the crown of a tablet.
