Democracy and Islam

In this day and age, one hears a lot of talk about the relationship between Islam and democracy. In fact, President Bush has not made it a secret that he wants to spread democracy throughout the Muslim world. People have to realize that democracy is not the panacea for all the ills of the world today. (In fact, Islam is.) Democracy has its own problems and it certainly has its own detractors. If you still have corruption or bad distribution of income or if the power is in the hands of the few or if the media is in the hands of a few or political parties controlled by small number, all of these things are going to destroy democracy and make it a faade, as can be seen in the world today.
