Mindfulness based stress reduction workshop Aim: The aim of the workshop id to provide participants with the back

ground information into the research, study and to provide information and introductory practice to mindfulness based stress reduction. Objectives It is anticipated that the active participating in the workshop will provide participants with: An understanding of the physiological responses of stress and stress reduction An appreciation of mindfulness meditation within the context of: What is it? Where it comes from. Advantages associated from its use. research that supports its action. Current neuro science that supports it. Provide an oppportunity to commit to the seven principles of mindfulness practice ( Arden 2010) Rhythmic breathing Focussed attention quiet environmnet Acceptance non judgement relaxed posture observation labelling Awareness of opportunities to engage in mindfulness in normal daily activities Mindfulness practice with follow on discussion Information and discussion relating to the use of mindfulness meditation through out the use of the study The provision of a mindfulness cd for use in the study at the completion of the workshop
