K-Michelle listens to Young Girls Touching Stories of Survival From The Covenant House of Houston
(Wednesday July 31st, 2013) Atlantic Recording artist, K-Michelles most anticipated album Rebellious Soul, is due to be released across the country on August 13th; K has also been teaming up with favorite charity, Saving Our Daughters with her Rebel Against tour which started on Monday, July 29th. As you remember K. Michelle shared the story of her traumatic experience of being in an abusive relationship during season one's most watched episode of VH 1's Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. I teamed up with Saving Our Daughters to empower women on different things that might make them feel inferior, whether it might be violence, racism, or anything that they might be struggling or facing from day-to-day, says K. Michelle. On Tuesday, July 30th, K-Michelle visited the Covenant House in Houston and was emotionally moved by hundreds of young girls triumphs, as they shared personal stories with K on how strong they are now because of the Covenant house and their peers. Also Ms. Black Teen USA had to come to see K-Michelle and be inspired by her visit as well. This awesome collaboration with the Covenant House was coordinated by Saving Our Daughters Houston Chapter executives, Valarie Jefferson & Sharita Clark. The chapter of Houston, will also be conducting a national fund-raiser headed by Saving Our Daughters to also help assist these young girls in 2013-2014.(for more information & take a donation for your support go to link http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/saving-ourdaughters/x/988368?show_todos=true )

Mission Statement Saving Our Daughters creates the tools to get teen girls discussing key issues and fired up to take the power away from bullying, (cyber, gossip, face-to-face,), date abuse, hate crimes, school violence, violence against women, and other esteem slayers.

"It brought tears to my eyes and I got so emotional when I returned to the Covenant House now working as the Vice President of The Saving Our Daughters Houston Chapter for an event with this wonderful organization," says Sharita Clark. "I was one of the women who took shelter at the Covenant House because I was once lost battling my own personal struggles. I'm proof that your trials and tests will become your testimony. I'm now the mother of two young boys and living out my dreams because the Covenant House believed in me when I wanted to give up." K-Michelles Rebel tour will be coming to Indianapolis Indiana Oct.2013 hosted by Ladies Under Construction Inc. during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
