Parents Night, Tailgate to kickoff Bulldog season Friday The Gering High School football team will kick off their 2013 season at home against Holdrege this Friday night, Aug. 30 at Memorial Stadium in Gering. Kick-off is at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs home opener will be marked with two special events. Fifteen seniors and their parents will be honored during the Parents Night ceremony to be held at 5:30 p.m. at mid-field prior to kick-off. The GHS Booster Club will also hold the first of their four home-game tailgaters at the football stadium. Fans are invited to enjoy grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. All proceeds help the Booster Club support GHS athletics and activities. A new opportunity to support the Bulldogs at away games is also being made available this season. Parents, family members and fans can travel to away games including Chadron, Alliance and possibly McCook and Hastings on a charter bus provided by AmeriStar Tours of Gering. A minimum of 40 people is needed to run the bus to each away game with a passenger fee charged according to distance. More information will be available at Friday nights game. According to Booster Club President Deb Pieper, the kick-off picnic held last Thursday at the school was a successful event with many new membership registrations taken. Bulldog apparel, flags and other team accessories will be available to fans throughout the school year. Booster Club membership is open to all parents, family members and community supporters. Annual membership is $20. The Booster Clubs next meeting will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, 6:00 p.m. at the Gering High School library.
