Address: Mountford Close, Wellesbourne Teacher: Mr J Ferris Curriculum Area / Area of Learning: Maths - learning how to use the protractor. Year: Year 6
The lesson objective: Be able to use a protractor accurately to measure
angles.
4x JPEG Images of visualiser being used in lesson:
How the visualiser was used? Visualiser was used to demonstrate how to use a protractor to measure a variety of angles. Children were shown clearly where to place the protractor, where to look on the scales and JF was able to demonstrate from his point of view how to use the protractor. The class (as a whole) were then able to have a go themselves and watch the technique on the screen.
The benefits of the Visualiser to teaching & learning:
• You can show the whole class at the same time • Detailed points on the protractor are clear. • Actual protractor demonstration is better than an interactive one on the smart board. • Easy to show misconceptions and common errors. • Great way to show a clear step by step process rather than showing individuals. • Fun and engaging!
