Oceanography
Learn why oceans are important to life on Earth. Investigate the concepts of salinity and buoyancy. Explore the characteristics and importance of estuaries, coral reefs, and the deep ocean. Observe pressure changes in a water column and investigate waves and currents.
As parents and teachers, we realize it can be hard to get a child to discuss what he or she is learning in school. We hope the information provided on this page will assist you in communicating with your child about what he or she is learning. For the next few days, your child will be learning about the importance of the oceans; conducting experiments and activities on salinity, buoyancy, water pressure, waves, and current action; and exploring various ocean environments. As your childs best teacher, your participation in the learning process is extremely important. Words students will learn in this Module include: absolute pressure abyssal plain biodiversity buoyancy conductivity coral reef current density estuary hydrothermal vent photic zone phytoplankton salinity sonar tide wave
