WHAT IS WHITE GOLD White gold is the name given to alloy of gold with ne of the following metals like

palladium, manganese or nickel. The pure gold is very soft in nature and can not be used as such for different purposes to make it hard it is often mixed with other metal or alloys. White gold is one of such types of mixture. The white gold is yellow in color and mainly used for jewellery, now a day the white gold is also used to make the casing of the costlier equipments like i-pod etc. the other uses of white gold includes ring, pins, gem etc. The property of the white gold depends on the type of the metal is used, For example if the nickel is used then the white gold is more durable and hard but its Karat value is decreased on the other hand if palladium is used as the other metal the white gold is more pliable and is suitable for the gem industry. Some time other metal are also used to bring about the desired change in the property of the white gold, common metal used are silver, platinum, copper etc. these metal are used to increase the malleability and other properties of the white gold. Like gold the purity of the white gold is calculated in karat, the karat is the part of gold mixed with these alloys. For example if in 20 parts of gold 4 parts of eh alloy is used then the karat value of the white gold is 20. With the percentage of the alloy is increased the Karat value of the white gold is also decreased, sometime the karat value is also expressed as the percent of gold present in the alloy, the disadvantage of the using white gold alloy is that 12.5 % percent of the people using it are suffering from allergy problems specially from the nickel present it.
