Process Engineering Group:

This department consists of 17 employees; being a divisional department, it looks after the process engineering needs of all the API Plants at, and Outsourced Production units. It is headed by Mr. Aru Dhir.

Following points are considered in this department: 1. It deals with the Technology Improvement (both for new and existing technologies) part of the companys business. 2. Going through chemistry part of the reaction, how much solvent is to be mixed, at what temperature with the understanding of why a particular temperature (not more or less) is being considered and at what particular volume of the solvent, etc. Different avenues of improvements are looked over for a chosen product/experiment. 3. Designing experiments, target setup on cost and time to achieve it in labs. Market intelligence is also gathered to choke out the right strategy of production (in terms of money, cost, volume, procedure etc.). 4. Also, troubleshooting the problems in the processes, in the plants. Commercialized molecules cost reduction is the motive of this department, like CRD (chemical research division), which also works on such molecules along with the new molecules. Yield, solvent recovery, and cycle time (reduction) are the three most important (especially yield) consideration for cost reduction. Yield should be as close to theoretical yield (80-90 %) as possible. Challenge in this department is that they have to scale up change directly from X to 1000X (from lab to production modules, without involving kilo lab and pilot plant). This department works in harmonization with R&D, Gurgaon so that duplicate work on the same product is avoided.
