Depletion region
There were some small errors in this hour derivation, as well as in the last year At the bottom of this page, there is a new correct derivation with this background WHICH ALSO IS CONSISTENT with the 2008 and may 2010 p-n-junction talks The error is missing charge - corrected in many pictures by included

Here follow the november 2010 boards First we discussed how the Vc actually is result of the doping, since when the doping is negligible, the Fermi level remains at the middle of the gap

a00-discuss-1.png In some texts, people set Vc = Eg

That is in general wrong, valid only for very strong doping

Here is our work at the lecture

This board is from the lecture. See under it

a02-from_E_x_to_Phi_pot.png What was attempted to show - by drawing the parabolas one way and the other way (left part of the board) is here- copied from my "homework" below

Here is a better representation of the three steps: charge density Electric field strength ELECTROSTATIC POTENTIAL ---- and that allows to determine the total "depletion zone"

Here the results are discussed

b02-dimension_d_i.png Here, in the above slide, we have forgotten the elementary charge e The colors show that the bdimension indeed is square root ( 1/Length 1/ ( 1/ Volume) ) which is square root ( Length squared), it means Length

Here we repeat the may 2010 boards

Here is a new derivation, my "homework"
