Star_Student Attendance Letters (Secondary)

Run Class Period Attendance Audit (SECONDARY SCHOOLS) On the Task menu, expand:

Class/PD Attendance Maintenance Class/Pd Attendance Audit


The Class Period Audit screen will appear.

Keep all defaults on the Class Period Attendance Audit screen Click Run
A posting window will be displayed when the audit routine is complete. The system will acknowledge that a change has been made to the database.

Click OK to remove the message.

Running Attendance Letters On the Task menu, expand: Class/PD Attendance Reports Excessive Absence Letter

The Excessive Absence Letters window will appear. Click in the Letter # to Print field.

Click on the drop down arrow on the tool bar.

Select Letter # from the list of values in the Letter # Look-Up window. Click on OK.

Note: Attendance Letters available in STAR_Student are: Elementary 5 Day Letter 10 Day Letter 15 Day Letter Secondary 10 Day Letter 15 Day Letter 19 Day Letter Loss of Credit

In Attendance Letters window, select appropriate Label Format.


The salutation prints at the top of the letter. STAR_Student automatically inserts the name shown in the brackets <> into the salutation.

In the Process Attendance Dates fields, change default dates as needed.

In the Absences fields, define the number of absences (Low Limit, High Limit) by
entering the same number in the Low Limit and High Limit field. Uncheck the Unlawful, Excused and Partial absence options.

Example for a 5 day attendance letter:

In the Report Type field select Period Attendance

Under the Absence Code(s) field, uncheck ALL

Click on the drop down arrow on the tool bar.

Select appropriate absence codes from the list of values in the Absence Code Look-Up
window. Click on OK.

Select Update Students Selected


This updates the student attendance record Letter # that reflects on the students Attendance screen and keeps the student from receiving duplicate letters over a period of time.

Keep the default on Print List of Students Selected

Click Run
