Revision Techniques

To ensure success it is essential to adopt a revision technique that works for you and helps you remember the material. Here are some techniques that have worked well for many academics. Break up the whole topic into relevant sections e.g Behaviourist, Psychodynamic. Allocate a colour to each section. Make a plan of when each section is going to be revised using your revision timetable (this means you wont miss anything out or have to do last minute rushed revision)

Visual learner

1. Read the material needed for the exam 2. Divide into 4 sections 3. Underline or create a key term for each section (a word or phrase that relates to that paragraph) 4. Write the key terms on a separate piece of paper maybe use an acronym or a saying to help you remember these key words. 5. Under each key term summarise the paragraph using 1 or 2 bullet points 6. Cover this and attempt to create a spider diagram of the key terms and bullet points 7. Have a break 8. Read the original material 9. Attempt to write the answer if you get stuck have a brief glance at your spider again.
