Darrell

I saw this on Facebook again last week in memory of those who lost their lives in the terrorist strikes on 9/11/2001. It would serve us well to act on its sentiments everyday.

IF I KNEW If I knew it would be the last time That I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep. If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more. If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day. If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute to stop and say "I love you," instead of assuming you would KNOW I do. If I knew it would be the last time There will always be another day to say "I love you," And certainly there's another chance to say our "Anything I can do?" But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, you get to hold your loved one tight. So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day, That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish. So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear Take time to say "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay." And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today. And today may be the last chance

I would be there to share your day, Well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away. For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything just right.

Every year in September, which has been designated Hunger Action Month, we collect bags of food for Pathways of Hope (PoH) Distribution Center. Please pick up one of the bags you'll find on the credenza in the Narthex as you leave the building this morning. Go to the store this week to fill it with the requested items and bring it back any Sunday this month. If you do not have the time to do the necessary shopping to fill a bag, you can still participate in this outreach project. Just make out a check, payable to our church, in the amount of $35. Mark your check: PoH Food Bags. Your gift will be combined with others to help us reach our goal of providing 75 bags of food for PoH to give to people who need help to put food on the table for their families. World Outreach

Offering Of Letters To Be Delayed

Originally, today, September 15, was set aside for our congregation to be part of Bread for the World's Annual Offering of Letters. However, due to a number of factors, it has been decided to delay this activity to a later date, possibly Sunday, October 6. Watch upcoming issues of "The Caller" for information about a new date for this activity in which we've engaged annually for a number of years. When the date is made public, we invite you to participate in the 2013 Offering of Letters. The Outreach Ministry

Today is your last chance to get your tickets

Today is your last chance to purchase drawing tickets and hopefully win a prize in the Opportunity Drawing at the PSWR Golf Classic to be held tomorrow, Monday, September 16. The prizes for this year are listed below: First Prize -- Two tickets to 7 Broadway plays at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, including the award winning, "The Book of Mormon." Second Prize -- An iPad Mini. Third Prize -- Two tickets to the 2014 Rose Bowl game to be played on January 1. Ticket prices are as follows: $1 for 1 ticket; $5 for 6 tickets; $10 for 13 tickets; and $20 for 25 tickets. You do not have to be present to win one of these prizes, but your name and phone number needs to be clearly written on each ticket you purchase. Due to the generosity of several friends of Don Shelton, whose memory is being honored at the Golf Tournament, we have a bonus drawing. We have purchased two tickets for the 2014 BCS game to be played at the Rose Bowl. They will be given away in a "bonus drawing" at the Golf Tournament. The tickets for this special drawing are $5 for 1 ticket and $10 for 3 tickets. This drawing is completely separate from the Opportunity Drawing described in the foregoing paragraph. By the way, in case you're certain you'll have the winning ticket, the BCS game is scheduled for Monday, January 6, next year. And you do not need to be present to win the BCS tickets. Tickets for both the Opportunity Drawing and the BCS Game will be available for purchase from Donna Woodbridge through Sunday, September 15.

World Week For Peace In Palestine and Israel

We received the following information from Global Ministries of the CC (DOC) concerning a call for prayer for the peace of Jerusalem. We pass along excerpts of their message directed to people of good will around the world - to all of you. "The Palestine/Israel Ecumenical Forum (PIEF) of the World Council of Churches invites churches, faith-based communities and civil society organizations to join together in 2013 for a week of advocacy and action in support of an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine and a just peace for all in Palestine and Israel. Congregations and individuals around the globe who share the hope for justice shall unite during the week of September 22-28 to take peaceful actions together to create a common international public witness. This annual observance of a week of prayer, education and advocacy calls participants to work for an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine, so that Palestinians and Israelis can finally live in peace. It has been more than 64 years since the partition of Palestine hardened into a permanent nightmare for Palestinians. It is now more than 45 years since the occupation of East Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza overwhelmed the peaceful vision of one land, two peoples. It's time for Palestinians and Israelis to share a just peace. It's time for freedom from occupation. It's time for equal rights. It's time for the healing of wounded souls. Your Outreach Ministry also suggests that while you pray for peace in Palestine and Israel also pray for peace in Syria, including an end to the civil war in that country. In addition pray for wisdom to be sought by and given to President Obama and the members of Congress in their discussion of and decision about the US making a military strike in Syria in response to Syria's recent use of chemical weapons that killed many innocent civilians, including a host of children. The Outreach Ministry 6

Fullerton ACT Group

Last week we provided a couple of opportunities to join with others of the faith community to help the homeless in our community. A couple more opportunities have surfaced this week. A bedroom size place (10 x 15) is needed to store clothes, etc. for the Fullerton Police Department to be able to access items for those in need. If you know of such a facility, please contact Coast to Coast Foundation which is the organization that sorts, catalogs and stores the items. If you would like to help, you can contact Coast to Coast at 714-860-8222 or email at info@coasttocoastfoundation.org. Coast to Coast is also in charge of collecting your donations for the liaison officers of the Fullerton Police Department to help people with motel vouchers, bus passes, etc. Your donations may be sent to: Coast to Coast Foundation 18340 Yorba Linda Blvd, Ste 107-222 Yorba Linda, CA 92886 These officers of the Fullerton Police Department are experts who are in contact with our neighbors who are homeless on a daily basis. This is an opportunity for us to be supportive and helpful to the homeless through our local police department.

Devotional for today:

Children inherently understand that loving, serving, and following God is a way of deep peace. Deuteronomy 10:12-22 walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, for your own well-being. When we think of creating a peaceful world with children, we need to let the children take the lead. Children can show us how to create and enter into this peaceful world. For many reasons, children, more than adults, are able to listen to the wise words, for your own well-being. Children inherently understand that loving, serving, and following God is a way of deep peace. They inherently understand it is for their own and others well being. We as adults so often forget that Gods teachings are good for us, are what is best for us, and are what will indeed bring peace. I pray, let the children show us. Amen. Rev. Olivia Stewart Robertson Minister of Family and Childrens Ministries Disciples Home Missions, Indianapolis, IN

Prayer Vigil
Casa de Oracion and FCCF will be having a prayer vigil on September 28. More details will be in next weeks Caller.

2013 Light a Candle for Children Prayer Vigil

You will notice there is another candle on the Communion Table for the next six weeks. The candle will be lit by our children during Childrens Moment each week to remind us to celebrate children as sacred gifts of the Divine. It provides us an opportunity to care, protect and advocate for children and important issues relating to the world of which they are a part. The theme for this years Light a Candle for Children emphasis is Turning Swords into Plowshares. Each day for the next six weeks, we will be sending out a devotional and ask that you pray for the children of the world who are being oppressed.
