The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill 2013 The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Bill 2013 is a bill that was passed on 29th august 2013 in the Lok Sabha and on 4th September 2013 in Rajya Sabha. This Bill has provisions to provide fair compensation to those whose land is taken away. It brings transparency to process off acquisition of land to set up like Defence & national security Railways Highways Factories Buildings According to this Bill fertile land should not acquired for industrial and other infrastructural projects. Only Barren land should be used for this purpose. Ramesh (Rural development Minister BJP) moved the right to fair compensation and Transparency Bill, 2013 for consideration and passage in the upper house (Rajya Sabha). The Bill was passed in Lok Sabha on august 29. The bill stipulates mandatory consent of at least 70% for acquiring land for public private partnership projects & 80% for acquiring land for private firms. Initiating the debate on this Bill, Vinay Katiyar (BJP) stressed the need to ensure that farmers have the right to appeal and demanded adequate compensation to farmers. As land the main source of livelihood for farmers, it was necessary to said to take 100 percent consent for acquiring farm land for any purposes. He said that the land acquired if not used for more than five years should be returned to farmers and should not go to the government land bank.

Commissioner approves R&R scheme
