If you get message "The installation of this package failed" when installing

Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 1 or Service Pack 2, try these steps :

1. Change the location of your temp folder. Using these steps:

a. Make temp folder on your drive. i.e: "D:\Temp" or "C:\Temp"
b. Right click "My Computer" , Properties, tab Advanced, button Environment
Variables
c. Change TEMP value to D:\TEMP (or the folder you have specify on step a.
d. Change TMP value to D:\TEMP (or the folder you have specify on step a.
e. click OK

2. Install Windows installer 3.1 v2

(WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86 MS Windows Installer 31v2.exe)

3. Install dotNet Framework 2.0

Then, try install Service Pack again.

The above steps are tested in Windows XP Pro Service Packs 2.
